Mandelbrot II GS vs Turbo Mandelbrot
If you like orange and apple comparison, below is a bias report:
How fast is Turbo Mandelbrot? Is Turbo Mandelbrot really faster than Mandelbrot
II GS? It depends...
All the results are tested on a 9MHz/32K Zip GS.
First level plot of 30 iterations:
Mandelbrot II GS Turbo Mandelbrot
Accuracy: 32 bit 16 bit 64 bit
------ ------ ------
320 mode: 3:10 min 1:25 min 19:04 min
640 mode: 5:35 min 2:38 min 31:35 min
Note that the comparison is unfair because Mandelbrot II GS uses Divide and
Conquer algorithm and Integer Maths. Mandelbrot II GS also automatically
mirror the image if possible.
Mandelbrot II GS also enable interrupt and traps events, so that you can
change colours, do colour cycling, zooming, etc duing plotting, this slows
down the program a lot.
Turbo Mandelbrot produces a "fatter" Mandelbrot picture, and you cannot
interrupt it while it draws.
So which is the better Mandelbrot program? Let the user decides. Of course
as the author of Mandelbrot II GS, and with the result recorded above, you
know my opinion.
