Getting Communications working with II+

Hi there,

I have an Apple II+ which I would like to use as a terminal
so I can log into a local BBS. How do I go about setting this up?

I know I need to get a modem and appropriate communication
software. But what do I hook the modem up to? Is there some
specific serial port or card I need to hook it up to?

Unfortunately, the Apple II+ is in another country and I can't
even look at it to see what it does have. From memory, I know it
doesn't have much. I bought it in '79. I added a memory card
sometime after that, but that's about all. There is 1 disk drive
hooked up to a card as well.

Lastly, what's a decent ASCII editor I could use with this? Where
do I get this and communications software from? Is there some
way I could get ProComm or something?

Please send me e-mail if you can.

Thanks in advance,
