The CD ROM should be plugged in the SCSI chain right after your HD (and
terminated appropriately). Most CD ROMS are in the High Sierra format or
MAC HFS format. High Sierra will work just fine (as will the ISO format)
since you have an FST for them. Under system 6 (and 5 if you're a brave
soul) the MAC ones will work fine.
There are (to my knowledge) only two commercial CDs for the Apple II series
(plus two more issued by Apple) for a total of four. However, any Mac disc
with pictures (GIF, etc) or sounds can be used fine on the GS with the
appropriate software. Honestly, I've not found much use for it on the GS.
As for which model: it's simple on the GS stick with the real Apple one.
It's the only one you'll get any support at all for. The other
manufacturers don't know what the GS is and couldn't care. Yeah, the
Apple's more money and not quite as good, but you're better off.
