Apple /// (quest)ions

hello group,

At a computer junk shop I managed to get hold of a true Apple //
computer. A look inside told me it is not at all like my Apple ][,
it even has 256 megs of memory (and all that for $12 :)

Anyways,

The Apple /// does not boot with any of my old Apple ][ disks.
The only reaction I get is when I enter my original Prodos 1.0.1
disk: A message that some file is missing appears.

I discovered that I could enter a debugger when pressing the open-
apple key during reset, but the monitor is different from the Apple
][ one ('L' doesn't work for example).

Questions:

a) Can the Apple /// be used as an Apple ][? If so: HOW?

b) What software do I need to boot the Apple ///? Where can I
   get/buy it? Where can I get specs?

c) The Apple /// has a 15 pin D connector claiming to be a colour
   video output, what is the pinning? (I was tempted but didn't dare
   to connect my Apple 13" to it!)

d) What are Port A and Port B?

e) Is there a CP/M disks that works with the Apple ///? It has a
   Microsoft Z80 soft card installed.

f) Why doesn't it beep when you switch it on?

g) Any information is welcome, I have none.
