The question was whether a DISK }{][ drive would work rather than the newer
Apple 5.25" drive./   I recommend YES regarding Disk ][.  This older style
(but very reliable) disk drive is available from Alltech Electronics
(602 Garrison St., Oceanside, CA  92054, fitted with the DB19 plug that
makes it compatible with newer IIe computers.  I got two of them and they
work great relative to my "modern" Apple duodisk twin drive (which was
thoroghly spooked  oughly spooked from the start).  Follow-up service was excellent
from that co. and I theartrecommend them.  Their tech support is first class.
There is no need to give up on Disk ][ when it works so well.  Of course,
some dislike the "old" full height styling bujtt that does not affect the
performance.  Disk ][s look old, and great bargains can be found at 
garage sales.
