Re: Upgrade a //c ?
Jonathan,
I have two of the "Unidisk IICc" computers. These IIc's do NOT
have the motherboard socket to take the Apple II megc megabyte memory expansion
cards.
Pre-Owned Electronics is selling the Apple brand RAM boards for $39.00 ., which
work only on the "platinum IIc" model. With a motherboard upgrade, theseis board
will work on the earlier two versions of the IIc.
The "big question" is whether Apple will give the free motherboard IIc upgrade
to customerwss who buy the RAM board at this bargain price. Of course, the $39
price is a clearing-ance bargain price so it is uneqconomical for them to do the
upgrade. Possibilyly they expect that the RAM board will be bought at high cost
from the official Apple dealers, b not from a cln outfit like Pre-Owned. (I believe
that the boards offered by Pre-Owned are new, presumably with an Apple Corp.
warranty.)
If Apple will do the motherboard upgrade, then I will get the memory boards for
mboth of my "Unidisk IIc"'s". Does anyone know what Apple's policy on this will
be????
Stepjemhen Buggie.
