14.4k on an Apple format

I am supporting two platforms (386-33 and stock GS) and am looking into 
purchasing a Digicomm Scout 14.4 modem/fax. The modem has all the standard 
equipment (ie, v.32, v.32bis, v.42, v.42bis). I am debating as to whether I 
should get the external model (so I could it on both platforms) or the 
internal model for my IBM (1. cheaper; 2. my serial card sucks).  I 
currently have a Datalink 2400 w/Proterm 3.0. How well does Proterm 3.0 
support 14.4? Well enough to justify spending the extra cash? Thanks.
