GS Hardware Problem?

Hi folks, this is a repost that I guess never made it to this newsgroup:

My GS is doing goofy things all of a sudden.  I've recently installed
64k cache into my Zip, and since then I've been picking up odd problems.

What happens is that my GS gets "stubborn" on a cold power on boot.. 
Usually the thermometer fills a few pixels and then the machine hangs,
or the GS will crash (presumably in an interrupt as it repeatedly crashes into
monitor while the SHR screen is frozen), or sometimes it crashes once the
Finder is initially brought up. 

However, if I let my GS run for a while, this problem (usually) ceases to
occur.. (sometimes the cursor will leave garbage at the top of the menu
bar if I put it there while the Finder is initially polling for devices)

Before I rip my zip out or reinstall my 8k cache, has anyone had this
problem before?   Any suggestions?
