I think the term Winchester came as a nick name for a hard disk drive.
In the early years the hard disks had 30 tracks and 30 sectors, 30/30
and someone related that to a Winchester rifle. The name stuck, at least
for a while. Most folks do not use the Winchester nick name any more.
	As for connecting your friend's drive, there is not enough information
presented for me to offer any assistance.
