More Net Info
Thanks again to all who replied to my 'Basic Net Questions'. The past month
has been a real education for me, and I no longer feel like a novice. OTOH,
I sure don;t feel like an expert either.
I had originally thought that I'd be able to sum up everything I learned
about the Internet/Usenet in one Grapevine column. I don;t know what I could
have been thinking, but what I submitted yesterday was (in my mind) going to
be the first part of a multi-part series. It was really just an intro to the
net.
Well, surprise, surprise. It's not going to appear in Grapevine after all.
It's going to be a feature article in the May, 1993 issue of inCider/A+!
And, I now have another month to learn everything you know.
So, I'd like once again if people could help me out by sending me
information. There's a few areas that I'm most interested in.
First, I'd like to list every single FREE public access net access number in
the country, if that's possible. I now some of you access the net from
Cleveland Free Net (I leanred how to access that through Telnet) and would
love to get a phone number for Cleveland area folks to call. Likewise, if
there are other free public access sites you know about, I'd also like to
hear about that.
Another thing I'd like to learn about is some of the online databases and
libraries that can be accessed. If you access a particular one that has lots
of neat, or professional, or fun or whatever type of information that would
be worth sharing, please let me know.
On the Apple II front, I'd also like to write about FTP sites with large (or
specialized) Apple II stuff on it. Maybe if folks like Todd Whitesell could
write a paragraph describing your site, that'd be great. Once I collected
all that info, then I could spend a couple of days visiting all those sites.
Aside from that, please send me any other relevant info you have about the
net, and neat places you've visited on the net. What about other neat
newsgroups. Any worth recommending?
Thanks in advance. Of course, c.s.a2 will get a write up, so lets suspend
the flames for the next month, OK?
