Help w/ IIe enhancement kit!

I finally bought the IIe enhancement kit, went to put it in, and noticed
a problem.  The IIe I have is a Euro version PAL.  The enhancement kit
has a chip for the character generator which is too small for the socket
my old one is/was in.  Do I need the German char gen chip, or can I
leave the old one in with the new chips, or can I get the US chip
swapped for a German one at no additional cost to me, except for mail or
gas?  What are my options here?  I would actually prefer to keep the
German characters available, if not always in use.  Help?

BTW- I guess putting the smaller US chargen chip in the socket would be
pretty stupid.... Or not?  I have no idea...
