Gayla Ann Reis's Rantings and Ravings
Let us take a look at what the lovely Ms. Gayla Ann Greis has so
eloquently stated:
"People like you really p*ss me off. Perhaps I am enlightened, but before
anyone else says I'm not, I will. You, sir, are just in the DARK. People
are people. They go on hear-say. Just like you have gotten your information
from. I was a car salesman for a while, and when I started the job, somtimes
I had to tell people what I *believed* and not what I *knew*. (I always
tried to make sure they knew which was which.) But I do not doubt that
sometimes what I said was misinterperated. One salesman *believed* that
the gs was no longer being produced because he was told it was no longer
being 'mass produced'. Some idiot heard this and took it as fact that
it was as 'he was told.' And the rumors spread."
Your enlightenment and incisive grasp on reality leaves me in awe.
"I can not in my mind justify telling you to shut the hell up and go back
to the rock you crawled out from under because as stupid and unthoughtout
your opinions are, they are obviously yours, and I believe in free speech."
When my opinions become half as insightful and rational as yours, I
shall quickly search for a gun.
"BULLSH*T (so as not to offend anyone this time.) You paid for R&D and
production. You have been given years of service, and along the way
jobs have been made and lost. Pull your head out of your *ss and wake
up and smell the coffee."
You would make Madonna blush. The only thing you're offending is a
pack of rats. I don't believe that even they would drink the pot of coffee
that you've concocted If I smell the coffee, will you enroll in a relaxation
and self-motivation class?
"But what I can tell you is how big of an idiot you are for saying these
things. And *YOU* replies to more than just the poster - although I would
never in a million think to leave him (or her) out."
Again, the blazing glare of your brilliance blinds me.
>> What this translates to is that consumers are actively seeking affordable,
>> quality notebook computers (of which Apple should be proud to produce among
>> the most affordable and high-quality in the market- although, Apple should
>> beware that its recent line of PowerBooks represents a far less affordable
>> solution to the businessman's need for a portable computing tool) and home
>> computers that are simple to operate, inexpensive, color, and available at
>> common retail locations. Witness the new Performa line of computers.
> What in the HELL does this have to do with anything!?
Everything. Primarily, though, it means that within the non-portable
compute market, it is the low-end consumer machines, such as the Macintosh
LC II and Performa lines, that are selling. The Apple IIGS also happens to be
a consumer computer, only right now it seems to have been fit into the Pre-K to
Second Day of Pre-K market.
"I teach in this school, and believe me, getting those kids to be able to
'apply' what you say, and getting them to 'do' what you say are very different
things."
And people wonder what's wrong with the education system? By the way, you
might want to lay off with the metal rods and flame throwers. It may ease the
tension in the classroom and promote an atmosphere more conducive to learning.
"(I use APPLY to infer thinking skills as well as just DOING) So I teach my
kids how to use the..."
I certainly hope you're not teaching them vocabulary and grammar. The
classroom is not supposed to be a simulation of the streets; it is meant to
be a substitution for them.
[Referring to the Apple IIGS's promotion by Apple.]
"Go figgure. It HASN'T fit for 4 years. GET A CLUE!"
And, you might also notice that the Apple IIGS sales curve closely follows
the Apple IIGS promotion curve.
"You, sir, are just in the DARK. People are people. They go on hear-say.
Just like you have gotten your information from."
[Laments further about how I am making things up and have no basis for my
criticisms of Apple's treatment of marketing the Apple II. Grumbles about
lack of proof and facts.]
According to Compute! Magazine, as of 1989, the Apple IIGS was the third
best-selling computer of all time. It outsold the Macintosh Plus and SE
combined. That was when the Apple IIGS was advertised and promoted.
"I was a car salesman for a while..."
A I bet you didn't get a gold watch...
Is there really any reason for your churlish remarks? I won't waste
anymore network space with our little squabbles, but I centainly will not
allow sucrubbish to stand unanswered. I don't know you. But I've seen
your acerbic diatribes strewn about the network. I don't know why you
delight in sputtering affronts to random targets, but this is far more tame
than some of your other works. You make my comments sound like they're
insulting your country or attacking your mother. We're talking about a
computer here. Criticism is certainly an important part of discussion.
There is a difference between criticism and vociferation. One word of
advice to you: relax.
