Re: UUCP for the IIGS

I don't have true uucp for the GS, but I do have Proline 2.0
that I've never used. Proline supports a unix-to-gs uucp-like copy
that allows the GS to receive e-mail and news from unix machines.
Apparently, Morgan Davis (the author) will soon be releasing (or has
already released) upcp (unix to proline copy) which will allow you to
basically do this: put upcp on your unix machine and let it run
in the normal set of background processes-- then, tell your GS
(via proline) to get news and mail from upcp however often you'd
like. upcp will be free to ProLine users.

ProLine is a $250 program, but it comes with quite a bit more than I've
mentioned above. It has a unix-like environment of its own
and offers extensive mail and conference services for its bbs as well as a
sophisticated shell language under which a system operator can
do just about anything. The manual contains a reference section of
about 250-300 pages on all of its shell commands and various features.

Unfortunately, I don't have the resources right now to start a bbs
and so ProLine is just collecting dust. If you want more information,
e-mail me. I might post Morgan Davis' product description later if
people are interested.
