You remember wrong. Attempting to copy a file with a resource fork
using Copy II+ 8.4 and earlier will result in a completely unusable
destination file. It treats the extended key block as an index
block, and usually ends up copying a random collection of blocks from
the file and elsewhere on the disk.

Version 9.0 and 9.1 report an error if you try to copy a file with a
resource fork.
