Re: SyQuest and Apple DMA SCSI card

I too have a similar configuration: Rodime 60 MB drive, and SyQuest 44
MB using an Apple DMA SCSI card.

Switching cartrdiges is somewhat slow, as the computer seems to poll
the drive four times before it will appear, but I certainly don't have
to remove the cartridge and reinsert it.

I can boot GS/OS with no cartridge in the SyQuest, and it works fine
if I then insert a cartridge (while in Finder, for example).

Going into ProDOS-8 with no cartridge in the SyQuest is a problem -
the computer doesn't hang, but I cannot subsequently access the
SyQuest until the system is rebooted (or a program reinitializes the
SCSI bus, e.g. Chinook SCSI Utilities, and I quit from and re-enter
ProDOS-8).

The SyQuest is connected to the computer, and the Rodime to the
SyQuest. The Rodime is internally terminated.

It sounds like you have termination problems of some kind - I've never
come across either of the problems you mentioned (having to re-insert
a cartridge to have it recognised, and ProDOS-8 hanging if the SyQuest
has no cartridge).

It may be something to do with the supply of power to the terminators.
