What is so wrong with Stevie?  I use it exclusively for editing my source.
If you just remember what that ^Z key is for, you don't have to load
your source every time you need to make a change, you know.  Just make 
the changes, :w, ^Z, compile, and fg when you need to make more changes.

Don't tell me that uEmacs/Orca can load the file in faster than you can
fg it :-)
