There was an upgrade to the Thunderscan software.  (It had to, to support th
IIGS' new graphic resolutions).  There was both a P8 and a P16 version. (I like
to use the P8 version.  It's much faster, and often offer higher quality.)
Both supported 360/620 B/W resolution.  I don't think there is much
improvement in the basic hardware.  All you need is to get the software
upgrade (which might or might not be offered by the company, as they are 
concentrating on Mac/IBM products).

As for OCR, I don't know.  I don't even know why it doesn't support Lightning
Scan GS (which is fairly similar to the Quickie).  There is a lot of talk of
an upcoming upgrade to Inwords.  Perhaps these two scanners would be supported
then...
