the jumper is wired:

1 and 2 are connected;
3 and 4 are connected;
5 to 12 (straight through)
6 to 11 (straight through)
7 to 10 (straight through)
8 to 9  (straight through)
13 and 14 are connected
15 and 16 are connected.

this is from the schematic of the 1981 SSC manual.

Pins are numbered like a DIP, down one side and up the other.

One way it's a null modem; the other is straight through,
