Re: Virtual Apple ][ Website Updated
Being able to save games is a huge advance, but I guess it's come at a
price. The Apple II GO emulator worked on almost any browser and OS
with no extra plug-in required. The Active-GS needs the plugin, plus
compatibility looks difficult atm. I know you're in beta and
compatibility will probably improve, but I already can't use the site
anymore, even with a G5 mac since it's pre Intel.
I'm actually writing an Apple II game atm whose primary delivery
platform is intended to be a browser emulator. My goal is that people
won't have to touch emulators or download anything - they just go to a
web address to play this game on a virtual apple II. Apple II Go
allowed this, and I set it up for my own use based on code I saw used
by you guys at Virtual Apple 2, but the price was the inability to
save games... I actually tried to figure that into game design
somewhat. It's an adventure game (an EAMON), though not of Zork like
dimensions. So I'm watching all developments in this area with keen
interest. I can't really delay the game release, it's gotta go out in
the next few months to go with an album, whenever that comes. I'd like
to go with ActiveGS model for the speed gains and game-saving ability
(and mac users have just been added) but I think that to still be
without any PPC mac players, plus require people to download a plug-in
first, may defeat the super ease of use goal I originally envisioned.
I dunno, I'll have to wrestle with this and watch both programs :)
