I used Apple's LocalTalk to Ethernet bridge for several years on an 8500 
running OS 7, 8 & 9:

I added the Apple link to the wiki page (above); the VersionTracker link 
has the software, but no documentation.

I switched to an AsanteTalk. Under Mac OS X 10.5, I can print to an old 
Apple LaserWriter 4/600 PS and mount OS 9 file systems via AppleTalk:

The AsanteTalk is a little picky about the order in which devices are 
powered up: It want's to be last, after the others have self-assigned.
