Its sad that I remember the 1997 Usenet exchange on 
comp.emulators.apple2 between Josh Thompson (author of XGS) and Henrik 
Gudat (co-author of Bernie) creating that format. Prior to that, XGS and 
Bernie used separate proprietary formats to handle images. Revival II 
appeared shortly after that, I actually have a copy of an early release 
somewhere. I also have a program called FishWings, one of the first 
programs that allowed manipulating of files in 2img images.
