I thought I'd ask here because I haven't found anywhere else to ask
this question. I've been a frequent visitor to CSA2 for many years and
I know there are some super smart people here.
So here is my problem. I have a Sharp MZ80k (yes, thats a z80 machine)
that I am in the process of restoring/fixing. This computer is from
the late 70's, and it's physical design is similar to the Commodore
PET 2001 with inbuilt screen and tape deck.
When I first got this machine, it didn't work. I removed the crazy
hack on the back of the PCB and fixing a hand full (4) of cut traces,
then I was able to get a screen full of random characters. After about
a month of on and off messing around. I realized that some pins that
were supposed to be grounded were actually floating. Grounding these
pins brings the machine back to life. However one problem still
persists. The characters on screen seem to repeat themselves every 8
characters!

Anyway, I was hoping that someone here may know what would cause this.
