Another ProTERM 3.1 Patch - Request for Testers

Fellas,

Once again, I could use some help.

It seems that while our patch for ProTERM 3.1 to enable 115,200 baud com
with the IIGS' built in Zilog 8530 SCC ports has been well received, I've
been getting email requests for a ProTERM patch that enables 115,200 baud
com with the slot-based Apple Super Serial Card (SSC).

David Schmidt's been doing 115,200 baud Super Super Card transfers for
several years with his ADT Pro, so I gave it a go.

My problem, and it's serious, is that I can't test the patch I developed. I
don't currently have a IIe with a Super Serial Card and hardware handshake
cable connected to a 115,200 baud capable computer.

Anyway, would someone who _does_ have the proper setup test this for me?

At a minimum, I would suggest a SSC with the 65C51 ACIA in it, and a RTS/CTS
null modem cable connected up to a computer capable of 115,200 baud.

Basically, this patch 're-purposes' ProTERM's 110 baud setting to make it
115,200 baud.

So, ...

ON A BACKUP COPY, fire up your block editor (e.g. ProSel's Block Warden) and
follow the file PT3.CODE 0 to Block 13, Byte $18D0 and change the value
there from $03 to $00.

Save it back to disk, run ProTERM 3.1, set it for 110 baud and let me know
if it works.

A simple one-byte patch seems too good to be true (from a work standpoint),
but, hey, you never know.

Thanks.

BTW, I realize there has been some grumbling about the availability of the
now freeware ProTERM 3.1.

Obviously, I have a copy, or I couldn't be making these patches. In fact,
I've even got an image copy on my hard drive.

But, I've got a lot of respect for Tony Diaz, Greg Schaefer and Jerry Kline,
and it's really up to them how they choose to distribute this program.

Also, I think Tony has gone to great lengths to transfer the ProTERM
documentation (which spans several hundred pages) to electronic format. That
is a _job_.

That said, if Tony were to give me permission, I'd be happy to email an
image copy of the program to anyone who asks. Without that permission,
though, I've got to pass for now. I hope you understand.
