Yup, slow speed doesn't make any difference - floppy drive still not
lit up. Even set all slots to "Your Card" just for test.

Other Locksmith functions (like 16-sector utilities, scan disk, track
editor) work ok.

Could it be that I/O shadowing is inadvertently disabled for page $00
(while looking for some extra memory card, for example)?
Does anybody have a disassembly of the fast backup code? I think I can
find the answer there.
