That is what I did for a friends joysticks many years ago. It took
about 2-3 layers of the wife's nail polish that she quit using. If I
not mistaken you will see a wear pattern on the button where the
spring is ever so slightly. They must have designed them with tight
tolerances so you could not over press the buttons and wear out/break
the switches. Should be good for another 20 years or so.
