Fellas,
Back in 'the day', the pages of A2-Central would sing the praises of a
program by Jim Hammond called 'FastData Pro'.
Apparently, it was a disk string search utility fed a diet of steroids, that
one-upped by several orders of magnitude even Glen Bredon's FILE.FIND utilty
from his ProSel collection. It allowed logical operators as well as a
selectable end-of-record character for searches.
Anyway, despite my latest attempts to locate Mr. Hammond, I'm still without
this program.
Maybe it's really useful, and maybe it's not. I just can't be sure.
We won't find this program available for download from the usual suspects,
since apparently Hammond would encrypt and embed the purchasers name in the
program before he would sell it. {This is actually pretty clever, IMHO.}
Anyway, I'd be willing to spend a few bucks if anyone has a copy they'd like
to sell. Alternatively, if someone knows Jim and can give me a contact
address, I'd take that too.
Thanks.
Hugh Hood...
