1. Does anyone know how I might go about doing something like Beautiful
Boot - a menu with a fastloader that runs in HGR mode - but with the
ability to run BASIC programs as well as binary?  My current approach is
to use RDOS 3.3.

You should visit my last webpage:
http://boutillon.free.fr/Underground/Outils/Beautiful_Boot/Beautiful_Boot.html

Skip the french text and go to the SOURCES section.
You'll find there the Beautiful Boot source code including the
Starfield routine (by Mini Appler/Midwest Pirates Guild & Br0derbund)
and Mini-RWTS (by The Stack/Corrupt Computing). Comments are in
english.

Brøderbund, eh? I wonder what game they pulled it out of o.o

And have a look to the appendix (you'll find the original Mini-RWTS
doc).

I think you can easily add a routine for BASIC programs.

In fact I have all the code I need for running a BASIC program. :)

(I've created this source code because I want to use the Starfield
routine for a new graphical Pseudodisk ]['s boot).

xDDDDD

Now to port it to ca65 (right now, my own assembler asl is out of the question)...
