I did find something like that, but I assumed there had to be more to
deal with situations where quarter-tracking is combined with track
synchronization.  This seems like a slight improvement over .nib/.app
but still short of the mark.

We've had a few discussions on c.s.a2 about the requirements of an
all-encompassing disk image format (one that is a little easier to deal
with than .fdi).  Nothing has materialized.
