Many, but not all...

In fact I never was really interested to pursue a programming or
hardware-oriented career - even though I'm interested in computers
for nearly 30 years now (I'm 40)! There were several reasons for
that but they are completely unimportant now - let's just say I didn't
want to lose my most favourite past time activity by doing "the same"
thing on the job.

The only thing before re-discovering the 8-bit machines was some
application programming for my job with the object-oriented
programming language that Borland Paradox for Windows uses -
and which put it for a time way above Microsoft Access.
Most people today don't even know Paradox, though ;-)

About four years ago, when I was unemployed, I discovered that
a "retro scene" exists - and not only games consoles but also for
old computers and my love for those wacky 8-bit machines with
a personality - well, at least some had one - revitalised and this
is why I'm here.

After two sales positions selling stuff to the industry (filtration
and bank
equipment) my next job was to control the production of paper sheets
and sell it to nation-wide distributors (small company, though).
Now I'm in the administration (various activities) of a local branch
of
a medium sized European energy supplier. This company maintains
a subterranean gas storage facility and produces crude oil.

Before that job - which is completely different to everything I've
done
before - I was unemployed for more than a year. So I can very well
feel what some people go through - especially honest, diligent people.
I can only say the following to them: Be patient, don't give up hope!
