Can you summarize the differences between your device and the SVD?

I can tell you my extremely limited few-minutes experience with
friend's SVD - it doesn't handle Locksmith's "Fast Backup". Probably
because of the funky way to detect head movement - look at the
schematic. And some Apple ][ software likes to do naughty things with
the controller.

I must admit that I've not tried anything that fancy with it. I use it only to bootstrap my way into various machines for which I have no real media. In that capacity, it's been a godsend.

I have developed alternative firmware for PD8, which was written from
scratch. There were prepared some nice options and it was roughly at
a 50% completeness. Haven't touched it for about 7-8 months, but I can
return and finish it, provided there is:
  - enough interest in people already owning it
  - people wanting to try newer firmware and provide testing/feedback
  - developers wanting to (ab)use it as a co-processor
  - some new folks to try it

Please state your opinions here, as they will shape the PD8's fate -
new firmware/features, board re-spin, etc.

Provided the cost is somewhat reasonable, you can count on me as a customer. I'm a sucker for things like this :-).
