Yes, it is overkill but who cares for R&D. :-)
It needs about 50 FFs and a heap of logic which I haven't synthesized
for LUTs.
Do you have this in synthesizable VHDL (preferred) or Verilog? Or, is it just
a handful of logic equations at this point?
Verilog, but you can translate in VHDL for half an hour probably.
