FWIW, you can extract files to Windows with CiderPress in "preserve"
mode and it'll encode the file/aux type in the filename. When you add
the files back into a disk image it'll restore the type info. You should
be able to extract a hierarchy of files from a ProDOS disk or ShrinkIt
archive to individual Windows files and then add them back to a new disk
image without any adverse effects.
This is not true for DOS 3.3, which can do weird things (like have 'B' files
with more data than the length word indicates).
