Re: Vulcan IDE to CF

Hey Bill.
I had once come across a single 20MB CF card which I have attached to a
Vulcan controller. It was heck to get it working, but works ok now that I
finally got it going. It will 'not' work with anything other size at
present.
Maybe it's worth using a program like Hex Workshop to image the card and try
duping it to another unit? I kind of remember seeing Head/Sector related
info in Sector 0 of the CF Cards. Maybe this would be a way to use 32 Meg
cards as 20 Meg replacements?
If that doesn't work then my next question would be has anyone looked at the
Firmware? I bet a couple bit changes in the right place for head and
sectors tables would allow any CF Card to be an option I would think.
I looked at it for several hours several years ago. ;-)
It is heavily bank-switched, as is the RAM, and so it can be a little
tough to follow. It was written by Bob Sander-Cederlof.
Tackling it with modern tools and more patience might work... ;-)
