The HDs have to be SCSI type 1. It will work on a few type II SCSI.
Just because they are a SCSI they may not always work with a Ramfast.
Termination is another thing you did not mention. The last in the
chain should be terminated. Even if there is only one. The drives or
cable could be bad.

What were the HDs that you were trying to use? Make, Model and Size?
