vi and modern hardly go together:)

The Aztec C Shell comes with a vi clone called "ved". What that would do
with volumes in DOS 3.3 I haven't a clue but it might be a start. It is on
the DOS 3.3 compiler disk.

The commands are:

char *helpstr[] = {
"i           insert text",
"escape      end insert",
"r           replace character",
"x           delete characters",
"dd          delete lines",
"yy          yank lines",
"yd          yank and delete lines",
"p           put yanked lines",
"-           previous line",
"return      next line",
"0/$         beginning/end of line",
"g           go to line",
"h/m/l       top/middle/bottom of screen",
"z           redraw the screen",
"/string     search for string",
"n           repeat last search",
":q          quit",
":w          write file",
":r          read file",
":e          edit new file",
":f          file stats",
0
};

Manx Aztec C65 for Apple II DOS 3.3
C II Vers. 1.05i 6502 and INTERP
(C) 1982, 1983 by Manx Software Systems

Aztec C65 for Apple II DOS 3.3 Disks 1 to 3 and Minimanual
Aztec C65 for Apple II DOS 3.3 Disks 4 to 8

It is on disk 1. You might want to try recompiling it for DOS 3.3 using a
newer version of Aztec C also available from the site. Try using the 3.2
cross-compiler.
