I've got a //gs motherboard, ROM 3, that seems to work fine...
mostly. It runs all the Apple ][ software I've tried on it, and most
of the //gs software that I have. It fails to run Dungeon Master and
SynthLab, but seems to run GS/OS and other GS software fine
(admittedly, I don't have a very extensive collection of GS software,
so my sample set has been fairly small so far). When I run the //gs
diagnostic software on it, it passes everything but fails on the ROM/
CPU test - which gives virtually no info on what is actually failing.
I've swapped the CPU into a ROM 1 system, and it checks out fine. The
motherboard doesn't have any obvious weak solder joints, or anything
that jumps out at me.
The next thing I could try is swapping in a second set of ROM 3 ROM
chips, which I don't have. My usualy saviors in this kind of
situation, Reactive Micro, don't seem to carry ROM 3 replacements.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
