Ya, it doesn't take very long to do.  Frankly, I've always been
daunted by the task/idea of using my flatbed scanner to scan in a
bunch of stuff.  Mine is slow and it takes a good minute+ per page.
Forget that.  I have a decent DSLR and a tripod, plus a remote trigger
for it.  I just set it up, so it points straight down at my desk.
I've got a remote trigger, I can scan images as fast as I can turn the
pages.  The trick is consistency, keeping things lined up in the image
and no flash (don't want glare) but with a tripod no worries there.

In fact, I'm gonna test it out tonight and scan in "Graphically
Speaking" by Mark Pelczarski.  I had emailed him a while ago and he
gave me permission to scan his book and make it freely available.  I
already told the guy who runs atari archives that he could host it (he
also has a copy of the email from Mark that gives me permission.)
It's a smaller book, 170 pages total.  I want to see how long it takes
me to do; I bet under 30 min, easy.  Beats flatbedding it!  Then I can
write a quick program to load each image, crop it (they should all be
aligned the same) and shrink it to a better size (always keep the
originals!).
