I have already been pointed to this archive and found the listing.
Solved the problem too: happened to be a subtly different way the 2e
switches "language card" memory range.

I have an S3-400 board as well as an Alter DE1 this end.

This time around I build it for a new platform - the Altium NanoBoard2.

I suspect you don't have one because very few people do - they just started shipping. The project will be open source, so I'll publish it
shortly.

For the most part it's portable Verilog, but the top level had to be
in schematic form for the Altium tools to work.

This is a unique platform: it has a plug-in with 6 Apple compatible slots. So for the first time (?) there will be an FPGApple with access to physical floppies in addition to memory card "disks".
