Yeah, that's how I felt too. It was explained to me that Fido is
gating a few usenet groups (not just csa2) to increase traffic. In a
way, I understand it ... not every Fido SysOp has access to a free or
inexpensive usenet feed for their BBS so gating gets the content out
to more boards.

On the other hand, those who have access to Fido and whatever usenet
is being gated, reading the dupes gets old really fast.

And whatever happened for Fido pride? Back in the day, Fido (and a
number of other nets, RIME for example) were pretty militant about
keeping their networks independent, self-contained communities within
themselves. To me, it seems Fido is using newsgroups as lifesupport
for a few slow echos.

Boggle! Fido-net still exists?? I just assumed it faded away along with the rise of the the internet.
