    I think that the right picture looks better if you replace chips too 
often and all the pins of chip won't be bent or broken easily.  Do you think 
that right picture is $50 cheaper than left picture?
    The left picture may be better for longer reliable over 30 years.  If 
chips get older and defective, it can be replaced once each 10 years or so.
