Your design reminded me of something I thought of while looking at
Ben's IIgs laptop. Didn't Apple use ADB as the internal connection bus
for the keyboard and pointing device all the way up until like the G4
powerbooks? It would be way cool to have a trackpad on a IIgs laptop,
even though I personally hate using trackpads
A trackball from an older 68K powerbook would be a better choice IMHO...
also the keyboards are nice and compact, though not as nice as the IIc
keyboard.
On another tack: how hard would it be to run one of these off batteries?
My understanding is that you'd need both 12V and 5V, so 8+3 AA's??? How
much power does a stripped IIgs board use? I'd guess using CFFA instead
of floppy drives would cut down considerably on power use...
The CFFA would certainly lessen the motor load on the +12v. But does
the IIgs (or any of the cards you want) also use -5v and -12v?
The best way to go would be to use a multi-voltage DC-to-DC switcher.
That way all the cells of the battery are used at the same rate, and
maximum energy is used for the computer. Efficiencies of 90% and
better are achievable.
