I've been discussing this "art project" over on the comp.sys.apple2.programmer group, but now that it's "done" (as much as anything ever is) I thought it'd be of wider interest.

It's a client/server app for the Apple II and Windows that streams the Windows desktop down to the Apple. So far the communication is one way, so you can't even call it a graphical terminal. Yet.

As a demo I use Second Life, the online virtual world.

Thanks to all the folks who've helped out with suggestions and support!

Oh My Gosh. That rocks!! I wonder how good it could look with some gfx optimization or crazier yet -- if you ran it on a Transwarpped GS. You ought to show it off at KFest.

More processor speed won't make much difference (except possibly
enabling more sophisticated real-time data decompression schemes,
but first the simple ones should be employed), since the serial
data rate is the limiting factor.

Besides, using a simple HGR machine is part of the "retro". And if
processor speed were needed, a 4MHz IIc+ or an 8MHz Zip Chip would
be my first choice.
