with no way to contact that person and tell them what is going on:)

Are you retired or doing this on the side while you try to get surgery
and hold down a Bricks and Mortar job? Sounds to me to be the latter
in which case I admire your commitment and don't know you well enough
to question your sanity.

The stuff about Intuit doesn't ring true. They used to be pretty good
but lots of kids programming installation packages these days and not
great testing either in some cases. Being a consultant with a
Microsoft Certified Gold Partner I am also an IBM Global Partner so no
stranger to XP which I think is fun and I think I would blame the QA
on some of this junk we see happen from time to time.

These licence agreements sound like a real annoying pain to me too.
Couldn't ya just save as pdf and be done with it. A determined user
can ocr anything these days anyway very quickly and the old school
agreements would probably be thrown out if it ever came to that.
Didn't somebody called Gore say something about saving trees down
there? Wasn't something called Kyoto signed? Doesn't International Law
mean anything in 'Murica?

I could be wrong about the facts but the gist is that you would be
doing the right thing to avoid the paper manuals and you can couch it
that way and put GO GREEN slogans on syndicomm and I'll bet you
wouldn't be bothered.

PS - as far as calling attention to oneself, all kidding aside, until
one gets a letter from a lawyer, and then talks to the lawyer and
indicates a position, here in Canada we wouldn't be worried about a
lawsuit unless we actually had done something wrong. I realize that
down there it's different. I attended a product liability seminar back
in my sales engineering days in the '70's (back when Ralph Nader has
some swag), and heard all about these class action settlements that
you folks have and about insurance companies shying away from folks
who have been sued and lawyered-up and didn't settle and so forth so
where's the justice (standing in the harbour rusting sounds like:)
