And if you use Peter Watson's utility you can write MS-Dos.

What I've started to do, since I was given a USB 3.5 drive for a Mac, 
and have a superdrive and controller in the IIGS, is format 1.44 disks 
in HFS on either the IIGS or Mac running Leopard, and transfer stuff 
back and forth...
