I've got an Apple IIe, and when I turn it on, the screen that usually just says Apple IIe has that and a bunch of " symbols in vertical lines in various places on the screen. Putting a disk into a connected 5.25 drive just causes it to output more strange arrangements of symbols. What's going on?
I'd suspect that some RAM is either bad or making bad contact with its socket. Have you tried carefully prying each IC up a little bit in its socket and then firmly re-seating it? If there are any plug-in cards, remove them before turning the system on to eliminate them as a source of problems. -michael NadaPong: Network game demo for Apple II computers!
