They *all* really work. In fact, when I'm running ProDOS, I can see all the files on the Apple /// System Utils disk, Demo disk, etc.
So I downloaded the Apple3SystemUtils.dsk file and other system disk files for the Apple ///. I transferred them in the same way to 5.25" floppies using MacADT to ADT (SE/30 to //c). However when I put these disks in the Apple ///, it won't boot. It just gives the error, "I/O Error" in the center of the screen (no other info). When there's no disk in the drive, it just says RETRY;It sounds to me like the .DSK is corrupted. Does it work in an emulator before you transfer it?
I have a hard time believing that *every* Apple /// .DSK and .DO file that I've tried has been corrupted. It seems more likely that this Apple /// has something wrong with its disk drive, but unfortunately I do not have an additional Drive /// to test this theory with.
I guess I will have to fire up my old Beige G3 with Sara and see if these .DSK files are corrupt. But right now I'm thinking something is wrong with my Apple ///... which of course is disheartening. I tried using compressed air to blow out the drive, and I removed the top cover to check if all the boards seemed to be seated properly. The only board I could see is the RAM board (128k) and it was seated fine from what I could tell.
The other thing I thought was that maybe there's something odd about the particular type of floppy disks that I'm using. The box reads DS/DD but I've been unable to format the other side. The have one rectangular chunk missing from the right side of the disk about 1/8" in size. I assume that's the "copy protection" thing but I don't know if that would make the Apple /// not want to read the disk or anything.
Obviously the Apple //c uses a different disk format than the Apple ///. But how else am I supposed to get the SOS disks for Apple /// ???No, they're the same.Also I downloaded ADTpro, and while I can run it under ProDOS, I cannot Receive from the SE/30 running MacADT. Though If I'm running DOS 3.3 and plain-old ADT, I can receive from MacADT.The server version has to be the greater or equal of the client version. So, MacADT's server isn't going to understand some of the protocol extensions of ADTPro client.
Is there an update of MacADT that's compatible with ADTPro? Or do I have to go and buy a Keyspan adapter and use the Unix thingie? Because I really prefer using Macs to using Unix! Haha oh the irony.
