Focus drive problem

For some reason I'm not able to boot System 6.0 successfully with my
Focus Drive (340MB IDE) plugged into Slot#7 on a Rom 3 IIgs. When I
move it to a lower numbered slot (like 4) it boots fine.
Any ideas why this occurs ? I thought the drive might be suffering
from stiction but it appears ok.
