I agree, of course. But when someone sends me a NIB to crack, it's
usually a case of finding out what the NIB didn't capture. If there's
an alternative, like the one Henry is offering in this thread, should
we not explore it?

It certainly wouldn't be hard to improve on the .nib format's
completeness.

I only suggest that the community cannot hope to support more than
one new alternative, so it's worth getting it right, and not settling
for a 97% solution.  (After all .nib is a 90% solution.  ;-)
