20 Years Later: What storage options for IIgs?

I'm happy to say that after almost 20 years, I'm the proud owner of a
IIgs again!  I brought it up "from the metal" using ADTPro and it's
working like a champ.  It only needed the 1/2AA battery replaced!  I
had a Woz version back then, but now I have a ROM 3.

While the IIgs is great, the passing years have changed my
expectations.  Specifically, I'm already tied of messing with disks
and I'd like to ditch the 3.5 / 5.25 drives.  What sort of mass
storage options exist?

- I see some Ethernet products exist, but is there any way to NFS-like
mount disks?
- I see some compact flash products, can anyone comment on those?
- For either of the above, what type of programs can be placed on
these mass storage devices?  Clearly copy protected software will not
work, but will any non-protected or cracked software work?  What about
traditional Apple II software vs. GS specific?

It's certainly a blast from the past to pull out 5.25 disks that have
been stored for 20 years!  Original disks like a ton of Beagle Bros.
stuff, Bards Tale, Skyfox, Seven Cities of Gold, Beyond Castle
Wolfenstien, Aztec, Choplifter, etc... Sadly, I seem to have lost all
my GS specific software.  I owned the ORCA programming stuff... but it
looks like I need to pay to get that again :(
