I'm mostly out of the csa2 loop for a few weeks, but I have to mention
my DAC522 work, documented with examples on my web page.

Since it uses a stock Apple II to play sounds sampled at a 11kHz
rate with 5-bit accuracy and 2x oversampling (to raise the pulse rate
to ultrasonic for many people), it is capable of reproducing *any*
sound with bandwidth less than 5kHz with surprising accuracy.

There is a SOUND.EDITOR (with some sound history--like Electric
Duet), a real-time sampled-voice synthesizer, and even a hex
dump reader (which is similar to the Talking Calculator).

Simon Williams (who also frequents csa2) used DAC522 to
implement a sequencer called TIMELORD.

Amazing sound from 8-bit Apple II's!
